Ramon Maly serves as secretary/treasurer of Friends of Ugandan Children Inc. He retired after forty years in the health profession. Ramon graduated with honors from the University of Washington with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. During his long career in nursing, he worked in many roles, primarily in the Emergency Department and Critical Care settings. Along with that, Ramon worked as a Nurse/Medic on a mobile critical care unit. One of his more interesting roles was a facility nurse in the large downtown Seattle/ King County Jail. In his many roles over the years, he assumed roles of educator, mentor to new RNs, department charge nurse, and a member on various committees. Prior to his career in the health field, Ramon served in the US Navy as a Navy Corpsman, reaching the grade of E-5. Following that, he was commissioned a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Reserve.
Ramon is married to Linda Maly and this year they celebrated their 40th anniversary. They both have enjoyed many years of sailboat cruising in the Pacific Northwest. Over the years, Ramon was active in sailboat racing on their various boats. Currently he enjoys fly fishing and home handyman projects.
